Cheese and Basil Focaccia Sandwich

Calories: 100

You need (serves 8):
  • Foccaccia dough
  • 50gm mozzarella cheese
  • 50gm cheddar cheese
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 4 mushrooms chopped
  • handful basil leaves chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • pizza sauce
  • oregano
  • red chili flakes
  • 3 green chilies (as per taste)
  • sesame and dill for garnish
Divide the dough into two equal sized balls and chaff them for 5 min. Roll out the dough into two rectangles of equal length as it fits your oven tray. The thickness should be 3/4inch.

Apply pizza paste on one base and spead cheese, green chili, basil, garlic, onions and mushroom on it. Dust oregano and chili flakes. Cover the base with the other base.

Apply salted water on the top base to glaze and shower sesame seeds and dill on it.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 min at 200c. The bread will come out to be soft. If you wish to have it crispy then bake for further 10-15 min. Serve warm or store in a air tight container in the fridge.

Healthier option: I used mainly cheese as a filling in the sandwich. You can play around immensely with this sandwich and fill in whatever you find more tempting. Go for veggies or chicken to get a good balance of nutrients.
