Recently launched in NCR only (may be cheaper factory land or better taxes), this is supposedly a healthy pro biotic milk drink. Yakult Danone India (YDI), a 50:50 joint venture company between Japanese firm Yakult Honsha and French dairy major Danone, has unveiled India’s first pro biotics factory. They plan to sell 1lakh drinks a day and soon make it synonymous with water. It is priced at Rs.10 per. Soon this will be marketed in other regions as well.
Apart from the retail route, they have introduced home delivery through ‘Yakult Ladies’ in a door-to-door campaign to help consumers understand the health benefits of the product.
By the way, they have about 50,000 ‘Yakult Ladies’ in Japan and 33,000 in other overseas markets.
